Millard Public Schools receives one of the final scrap steel donations of 2025.
The last of the scrap steel welding coupons donated to schools were loaded up on Wednesday by OM Machine Operator Lead Rigoberto Ocon and OM Machine Operator Raymond Salazar. Lewis Central High School and Millard Public Schools were the final two schools to receive donations. The materials will be used to train students in welding and fabrication classes.
Over the course of the year, 21 separate schools received donated steel from the North Plant bracket shear operations. As it has become more difficult for schools to find quality materials, schools as far away as Syracuse, Nebraska, and Hamburg, Iowa, have continued to travel to Lozier to pick up scrap steel coupons for welding classes.
