Jacob’s Well Ministry uses third Lozier Community Grant to expand food pantry distribution with a second car port

In its third year, the employee-led Lozier Community Grant program supported 57 nonprofit organizations across the country in 2024. These are the 2024 recipient organizations’ stories of impact. Applications for 2025 Lozier Community Grants are now open through May 30, 2025; encourage nonprofits to apply here.

Its third year of receiving a Lozier Community Grant, Jacob’s Well Ministry Food Pantry hopes to expand its outreach efficiency through a new drive through port cover in Jackson County, Alabama. The new cover will be critical for the nonprofit that distributes food to around 800 people across county every third Saturday of the month.

“When it rains, we can only use one of our two lanes to distribute food, so the traffic backs up to the road,” Chairman of the Board Larry Lockard said. “We don’t want to cause a safety hazard, so a second lane will alleviate some of that.”

Jacob’s Well Ministry Food Pantry expanded to its new facility in the fall of 2023 to meet a growing demand, primarily serving families with children and seniors surviving solely on social security. Participants receive 20 pounds of dried or canned food, along with 20-25 pounds of frozen food and meat to supplement monthly food purchases. The operation also partners with the local schools to provide food for their weekend food backpack programs.
