Metro Community College’s High School Skilled Trades students visit Lozier for lessons in manufacturing, career building

Some of the Omaha area’s best and brightest took a trip to Lozier on Friday morning to learn about the incredible career opportunities at Lozier, getting an inside look at what a future in the skilled trades would mean for them.

Everyone in attendance, coming from Skutt, Roncalli and Gross high schools, plans to enter a career in some sort of skilled trade. From auto technician to maintenance professional, every sophomore, junior and senior in attendance used the opportunity to ask questions, see processes and plan for their careers.

The group visited the Main Office first, getting overviews and insight into Lozier, its business and the future of the industry, before heading to the North Plant for a production facility tour.

All three schools are part of the Archdiocese of Omaha, catholic high schools with thousands of students in the area. The three schools don’t have traditional shop or Career Technical Education programs, so they partnered with Metropolitan Community College. Each student is earning dual enrollment credit through the academy partnership.
