Dual-enrollment has been growing at Skyline High School in recent years. School counselor of a decade David Adkins says he’s proud of the students he has encouraged over the past few years. Growing in academic success, the Scottsboro, Alabama school became a Blue-Ribbon school in 2023.
Lozier’s Community Grant program helped purchase text books for students in the dual enrollment program. Skyline High School students are also enrolled at North East Alabama Community College, receiving college credit and scholarships.
Sharing their experiences in the program, most students said they wouldn’t have considered dual enrollment without scholarships and grants that support their future education. Support like Lozier’s relieves another financial burden for the students, and Adkins says the textbooks are shared and recycled for as many years as they are relevant.
