The weekend couldn’t have gone much better for Lozier staff participating in the Nebraska SkillsUSA competition in Grand Island.

Four employees, all Sponsorship for the Trades students, traveled to the event with Sr. Training & Development Specialist Joe Collins for the event. Aaron Adams, Brandon Gallo and Jenson Groff all participated in the Precision Machining Technology category on behalf of Metropolitan Community College, while Sam Wulf took part in the CNC Programmer category.

All four participants put their professional and academic skills on display, showcasing their abilities for industry judges, operating on provided machines. Wulf’s Programmer competition featured several different challenges, including written and math exams before moving to the programming phase of the competition.

In addition to the group participating, Community Outreach & Engagement Manager Ralph Kleinsmith spent a day at the event, promoting Lozier’s career opportunities for students in attendance.

At Saturday’s awards ceremony, the hard work paid off. In the Precision Machining category, it was a clean sweep, with Gallo bringing home gold, Groff claiming silver and Adams earning Bronze. Meanwhile, Wulf claimed the silver medal in the CNC Programmer category, finishing just behind a fellow MCC classmate.

It was a clean sweep for Lozier Sponsorship for the Trades students in SkillsUSA Nebraska’s Precision Machining competition.
