In its second year, the employee-led Lozier Community Grant program supported 50 nonprofit organizations across the country. Recipients were selected by employee committees in all five Lozier locations. Over the next couple of months, the recipient organizations’ stories of impact will be shared on LozierLink.
Lacasa is a community development co-operation in Elkhart County, Indiana, with six lines of operations, including: financial empowerment, community building and engagement. Lacasa owns and operates more than 350 units of affordable rental housing in the county and develops single-family houses for home ownership through its program.
A community garden has been a recent project Lacasa supported with funding from the Lozier Community Grant program. The grant supported Daniella Pannetta’s role as manager of Community Building and Engagement. It also provided the garden’s leader resources and information to grow the garden and connect with the community.
The Lozier Community Grant continues to support Lacasa’s Community Building and Engagement program that works to build relationships with residents in South Central Elkhart and East Lincoln Crossroads in Goshen. Lacasa sees resident engagement and leadership as essential for communities and neighborhoods to realize their vision for a vibrant and welcoming place to call home.
