Bright Futures Joplin is Supporting Students with the Things They Need to be Successful – Lozier Community Grants

In its fourth year, the employee-led Lozier Community Grants program supported 50 nonprofit organizations across the country in 2025. These are the 2025 recipient organizations’ stories of impact.

Bright Futures Joplin was established in 2010 to address the growing needs of students in Joplin, Missouri, through community support and resources. Bright Futures Joplin hopes to remove barriers to student success for those experiencing homelessness, poverty, hunger or lack of positive relationships.

A few of the nonprofit programs include the Student Needs Program and weekend Snack Pack program. With 65 percent of Joplin School District students living in situations of economic deprivation, Executive Director Amanda Stone says Bright Futures Joplin and the local community are making a difference in removing barriers to student success.

“By addressing these fundamental needs, we help stabilize students and create an environment where they can focus on education and just being a kid,” Stone said.

Through the Student Needs Program, the Lozier Community Grant will help provide essential needs such as weather-appropriate clothing, hygiene products, school supplies, weekend food, eyeglasses, beds, transportation and more.
