In its fourth year, the employee-led Lozier Community Grants program supported 50 nonprofit organizations across the country in 2025. These are the 2025 recipient organizations’ stories of impact.
The Sparta Township Fire Department’s mission is to protect the people and property of Sparta Township. The department responds to fire, medical and other emergencies as well as providing non-emergency services. This includes reducing the frequency and severity of emergencies through prevention and education.
One of the ways it hopes to educate its community is through its Cadet program, where children can learn more about firefighting and ride along as the fire department responds to different scenarios. The fire department also wants to be a place children can come and hang out, have fun and receive fire prevention education.
“We want to reach more of our community to help support their growth and not only physical but mental well-being as well,” Fire Chief Brandon Kiser said. “We want to be the fire department that welcomes the community with open arms as a safe place anyone can always go for help and not just in times of emergency.”
As a volunteer fire department, Kiser said Lozier’s Community Grant will go a long way in supporting emergency response and education. While they have everything they need for emergency response, they don’t always have funding to support community education.
