SUN Area Technical Institute Students Visit McClure

Last week, the McClure plant hosted Precision Metalworking students and educators from SUN Area Technical Institute. Students enrolled in the program transform metal blocks into intricate parts including gears, pistons, tools, wheels and more. The parts they create are assembled into cars, bikes and other machinery.

Eight students from the Precision Metalworking program as well as their instructor and assistant learned about Lozier’s goals and manufacturing processes. The visitors had the opportunity to ask Plant Manager Scott Spotts questions about the company prior to taking part in a tour of the facility.

The tour was separated into two groups, with one led by Maintenance – Tool & Die Supervisor Dwight Dauberman and the second led by Scott Spotts and Safety & Environmental Coordinator Scott Golden. The visit wrapped up with the students utilizing the mini brake press to create their own products.
