Tracking in the Shadows is rescuing and rehabilitating lost dogs with Lozier Community Grant assistance

In its fourth year, the employee-led Lozier Community Grants program supported 50 nonprofit organizations across the country in 2025. These are the 2025 recipient organizations’ stories of impact.

Tracking in the Shadows – Rescuing Lost Dogs started when Kira Radtke and her friend found a lost dog on the side of the road. With no one looking for the dog, Radtke asked around the community to find the dog’s owner. Posting on her personal social media, Radtke then founded the nonprofit, working to secure, rescue and rehabilitate lost or abandoned pets as well as match them with new homes.

Working out of Elkhart, Indiana, Tracking in the Shadows started as a grassroots project in 2018. People who see lost dogs or who have lost their own, contact the organization and they work with community partners to set up an assisted retrieval. The nonprofit also works with community members to connect those who have lost dogs with resources like pet supplies and those that can assist with building safe fencing.

The Lozier Community Grant will go toward supporting rehabilitation costs for recently lost dogs. As a rescue, Tracking in the Shadows also provides for the dog’s behavioral and medical needs to get them ready for adoption.
